And what about the 6 week holidays?

Do you holidays get paid?

I know when I was a LSA we were not Sad (and in some caes were doing more work then the teachers!)

I think it works differently though, as an LSA you are contracted to work during term-time (officially) and are "allowed" to work elsewhere during the hols.

# I think euthanasia is ethical and necessary.

# I think vivisection is never ethical and abhorrent.

# I think flexible working should be in law in particular circumstances.

# I do not believe that schools should be allowed teach according to religious denomination.

# I think more "native" British people would fail a citizenship test than any immigrant.

# I think we should be taught foreign languages before science in schools.

# I think history and geography should be compulsory in schools.

# I think enumbers should be banned in all food.

# I do not believe we should be giving much aid to third world countries.

Yes you are right, it's not ideal finding a job just for 6 weeks though (unless you apply for McDonalds etc- ugh).

Vicious circle. More food parcels, medicines etc just make a population that cannot sustain itself have more problems and become more reliant on aid. Until aid consists primarily of education and supporting people to help themselves, I do not think we should be sending aid there.

Its not so much about education - unless African nations are allowed to compete freely in trade then they will always be at a huge disadvantage

There is always loads of summer work available for qualifed teachers, teaching assistants and other childrens services workers. Since the kids we see are all on holiday we always need extra staff to run sessions during the hols.

While I do not boycott Nestle, I do not agree with them sending free samples of infant formula in the developing world.

I don't believe we have ever debated "Aide"!

That said, without trying to take this thread off topic, as it isnt what it is about, I think the balance of power on "Aide" with strings attached has always favoured the developed world...and we give a pitiful amount of Aide overall given our own comfortable lifestyles (and that includes people on low incomes/minimum wages in developed countries, who still have a roof over their head, and water in their tap)

Shouldn't this debate go off somewhere else (like a new thread) so we can all get back to airing our less detailed bigoted thoughts and unpopular opinions?

In that case I shall add some more opinions and keep the thread going.

I believe that plastic carrier bags should be banned

I think that the influx of eastern European migrants has been fantastic for the UK

I think that all school children should be taken to see Auschwitz (or another similar camp) before they finish secondary education

I think that children should not have mobile phones

I think that people whose music can be heard leaking from their earphones should be given a warning then subsequently banned from public transport.

I think that people daft enough to pay for speedy boarding on low cosst airlines should be pilloried.

I seldom disagree with you fizz but the speedy boarding plus system (the new version with the special check in desk) is the only thing that makes having to use easyJet for business bearable. I don't care when I get on the plane but I do want to jump that line. What's daft about that?

If you are travelling for fun then sure, why pay £7.50 each way? If you are travelling for work and can save an hour standing in a line getting stressed, it's the best bargain in the flight industry.
