My boyfriend has posted his first item on ebay, his apple laptop... he put a £800 reserve on it and we were chuffed when it went within 24 hours at that price....
Anyway, I was guiding him through the first sale and we looked at the buyers feedback,it had been 3 positive when we looked first, then when we looked the next day it had gone down, with people posting things about the buyer being a nigerian scammer...
he relisted immediately, no point wasting any time, then he received an email asking him to post it to nigeria, and a fake paypal payment....
i'm sure everyone already knows this but just in case- if you receive payment notification for an item by email, check your actual paypal account to make sure the money is THERE. The email he got was a mock-up of the notification email that you usually get when someone pays for an item... we left negative feedback and the buyer is no longer a member of ebay- no doubt he got his account delted and has set up another to start again.
They prey on innocent new sellers so don't be fooled!
and shameless plug-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&item=230019969889&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 he's only selling it because his car broke down and he's skint after buying it, its two weeks old. Don't you just hate expenses like that that you can't foresee!
