New coach Fabio Capello left out Beckham from his first squad. And on current form and fitness it would probably be the right decision. But seeing as this game is worthless and Beckham (who has been an incredibly loyal servant to the English game) lies on 99 caps, I found it mean spirited.

I know hes a tough Italian, but I dont think he understands the English yet. I can foresee problems with this guy.

Nah, if you are good enough you play, their is no room for sentimentality and I do not think it is a particularly hard decision by him to leave him out. He has no match fitness, no other player would play without any competitive games under their belt.

If England were struggling for right sided midfielders, then it could be a problem.

However, when you have SW-P, Davey Bentley, Ashley Young and Gabby Agbonlahor all playing extremely well at the moment, dropping David Beckham who is not match fit is not a big surprise nor should it be a huge controversy.

If it was a competitive match id agree Dave and Aaron. However this match means nothing, It wouldnt have hurt to reward him with his 100th cap and let him get a standing ovation. He deserves it. Even if it was as a sub for the last five minutes.

I think he would have been insulted with a token 5 minute run out, to be honest and wouldn't want to earn the ton that way. Also, I'm sure Capello wants to have a look at players he's not really seen before (whereas he knows what Becks can offer).

I think he'll still get his 100. Capello will call him up once the MLS starts properly and England have matches later this year (April/May?)
