I get that "update" every week. You do have to be very active to benefit from that one. To answer Rich's question though, you can post and run in theory.

OK I churned a few on...I wrote one reivew on a European City, which I had to add the category for - I got feedback that there was not enough "history" as a preamble - which I appreciate is a matter of taste, however it is still pending, and the rest are active, surely it cannot be rejected on those grounds...(not when you see half the reviews on there...)

Well I hope that is true with regards to earnings not relating to ranking. I've come across what was supposed to be a film review and the article is mainly about the book, a do's and don't guide where there was only one example of each, and one written in a foreign language. Unfortunately these were articles I came across so couldn't flag 2 of them, but all 3 were at number 1 out of quite a few articles. Lisa x

Writing stars: 1
Reward-athon articles written: 19
Rates in the last 90 days: 25
Rating score: 83.52 (for details, see "A look at rating percentages")

Estimated Reward-athon bonus: $19.00

OK, got an email today, here are my stats - can someone explain this rocket science Helium stuff to me....? I have done about 25 reviews in total, but think I have done 19 in the last week...(if this is to be believed) How do I get my Writing Stars up?

I find the categories weird, I dont know if they take book reviews for example...I already churned all the travel I want to, and a few others besides.

and what the heck is a rating star...I have to get mine up apparently. Which would be great if I knew what it was

Rating stars are based not only on the amount you rate but also the quality of the rating. You can't just wildly click, the system knows if you have clicked too quickly and the system also spots rating that is wildly out of step with the rating in general.

You can get ratings stars quite quickly but you need to maintain them

Go to the literature channel and you'll find places to review books on the drop down menu. Cookery books have a place on the food channel, travel books on the travel channel.

Can I remind writers taking part in the Rewardathon that some of your titles (I forget the ratio but you can check in the T and Cs ) must be in competitive titles.

Simply posting over lots of articles for which a new title is created won't qualify you. Those will only count if you also write in titles with at least three titles in them

Helium wouldn't know a quality rate if it came up and punched them in the face, if the order of articles in a topic is anything to go by. All this is, is a system like Ciao's. It doesn't measure quality at all. In my mind, rating stars are about quantity of rating and are out there as a carrot to get people to use what I see as one of the worst systems on any site.

And what happens if you do rate against the norm? Is it simply discounted or do they make an effort to find out WHY you rated against the norm?
