Writing Express Reviews Empty
PostSubject: Writing Express Reviews   Writing Express Reviews EmptyTue 16 Jan 2007, 20:27

Hello everyone,

I want to know on how to post an express review. What are the advantages/disadvantages in terms of readership/rating and rewards from members/Dooyoo teem of having such reviews. Is there any limitations for the number of words?

The advantage - it doesn't have to be in depth.
Disadvantage - doesn't pay anything.

Ok. Looking at the current list of posted reviews, how can I verify if that the review is under express category. I have noticed that there is a significant current reviews that are short and most of them received 'somewhat useful'.

I've always wondered that, but I don't think there is a way of verifying express reviews in the list. Lisa x

Information from the site.

Short opinions are our service for all dooyoo members who would like to voice their opinion but don't have the time to write a detailed review. You can at any time extend your short opinion into a review. With your short opinions you influence the average ranking of a product and its properties in the product comparison. Additionally your advantages, disadvantages and conclusions are collected and displayed on the product page, helping other readers to make even more informed decisions about the product. In your member profile you'll find, in addition to your reviews, a list of and statistics from all of your short opinions. dooyoo miles are not awarded for short opinions.

Short review:

It only takes a minute. Tell us about your experience without logging in and in less than 75 words. Fast and easy.

Premium Review:

Do you have a lot of stuff to tell? Then write a premium review and make money with your knowledge, thanks to the miles system. Not a member yet? No problem - register for free after you have written your review. Try it!

There is no easier way to help other people than to be part of the dooyoo consumer network... And remember: Write about negative and positive experiences - both are important.
the not logged in ones are the "short" reviews, although some can be longer than 75 words and not logged in but that is when you get the prompt and congratulations etc...register and earn money...

It used to be slightly different with Express reviews, here you simply ranked the product i.e. 1-5 stars and gave a few short words in description..I have one I did years ago, which if Rachel will give me permission I will show what it looks like (it cannot be rated either, so no gain from that). As it was years ago, I cannot recall, but I dont think the Express review appeared in the new in list. You used to simply be able to click the "stars" and rate products too, but that facility appears to have vanished now with the introduction of the short reviews (I know it worked this time a year ago as a company I wrote a negative review on kept going in and rating it upwards...therefore skewing the overall rating...!)

Since it is not a paid review and showing it cannot affect ratings, then by all means demonstrate away Helen.

link deleted....

for a short review now, you must put two words in the "words" box, and then complete the rankings for the product (if it is the kind of product that has them) plus an overall star rating, which is exactly what I had to do at the time for this one.

Thanks for the info but sorry that explanation from the site does not gives me a clear direction how my express review beneficial to the members. Yes, Ive seen it in my personal profile (overview) that a statistics will be added if an express is written. However, Im concerned with the ratings received from the readers which always 'somewhat useful' or 'not useful'. And we cant help that reaction from the members because, personally I will rate the same because of the brief info written and does not really gives me much information about the products/services. And for such rating, whether we like it or not, it is not good in our personal record.

Maybe I could send an email to the Dooyoo Team to check the real arrangement for express reviews.

but they are not called express reviews any more, that's the point

they are "short" reviews..and they can be less than 75 words long. If you read the comments bit on the left hand side when you are posting a review you get some additional points there, which does point out that reviews less than 150 words are probably not "that" useful (I am paraphrasing here)

You can still rate them as you see fit. (or if you dont want so called lower rates on your personal record, then you may find that "short" reviews are not the way to go.)

Personally, I think they can have a lot of value...after all, who wants to read 68 separate 2000 word mobile phone reviews to make a decision....... Laughing

PS: you can see the date, I have since learned how to write about wine (a little..!!!)

Thanks for this example... It is clear to me that this is an express review which contradicts to my view for such review. As I said earlier, there are reviews posted nowadays that for me should be classified as express reviews, but still being rated as a 'premium' review as Dooyoo called it.

I received a private message today replying to my private message and comments to her review. The review was short but informative, and for me it is an express review (prior to the example above) but I cant help to rate it 'somewhat useful'. But for the example above, express review is not rated... is it right?

Quick question: are short reviews flagged as such on the site? Are they even visible in the new in list?

This explanation makes sense... It only shows that the 'express reviews' written in our personal profile does not exist anymore!... Sorry for ironing this out because Im learning how dooyoo works and I could benefit it from it. Well, agree with your last paragraph!

good question..there are non shorter than 75 words in the list as I can see it at the moment for the last few days..one that I thought was the shortest, on that famous miracle cure for obesity has exactly 75 words...so I am not certain now. Will double check and post a definitive answer.

Hi Helen, as that link takes members into rating, seems a bit inappropriate to have the link. Can you amend your posting and just put the words of your review in. As there are no ratings on it, seems a bit weird.

While I was away for few minutes, I checked with the new members list and the recent reviews from them (as signed this year), and I found out that the Express Review seems working... I visited the profile of the members and based from the accounts this is the details:

Sorry, have to remove link, as going in from the forum to read other people's reviews isn't on. People may rate who otherwise wouldn't
It shows that this is not available in the review list but you can view from the account of the member. You can also rate this express review. Try this account... I rated the express review as 'useful' because it gives me answers to my questions on this thread, eventhough the review is not useful.

Hope this helps.

PLEASE DO NOT PUT LINKS TO REVIEWS ON THE THREADS.

Try this and we can even rate this express review. Or visit the member account and click the express review icon at the top the list of the reviews. So its still working.

Sorry if my instructions seem contradictory. I didn't think that anyone could rate express reviews. Since they obviously can, it is obviously not a very good idea to paste links to the site.

I can delete it, but as it is quoted in another post, that would be academic and so will have to be moderated....

however I can assure you that if you have looked at it and Curious Tan, then I have not earned any money off it today..!! Or indeed ever, as it has no rates and these reviews do not earn miles.

Ah, well that answers that question then. Reviews under 75 words do not show in the new in list.

without restarting the whole debate about commenting on other members ratings, I do fail to see your logic in rating such a review as helpful, while following the rating guidelines on the site...as it isnt a review at all. The answer to the question asked would have been posted here for you as soon as a Guide got the definitive answer (and I did ask the question, as I said I would, but obviously would not hear back immediately..)

HI Helen,

It was only when I realised that these can be rated that I thought it not such a good idea. I don't think anyone earns on them, but if members get used to being able to paste links, we shall have them all over the place. I think you have demonstrated your point though about express reviews so that's a good step forward.
