REPORTING PEOPLE THAT BULLY. Empty
PostSubject: REPORTING PEOPLE THAT BULLY.   REPORTING PEOPLE THAT BULLY. EmptySat 27 Jan 2007, 19:20

It was brought to my attention that a member of dooyoo has been receiving threatening messages saying that they will receive NH ratings on their reviews if they continue to read such and such a member.

Okay lets sort out what to do in a situation like this.

Remember firstly that there is not really such a thing as a revenge rating on dooyoo. You will get paid for every rating.

Secondly, if this happens on a weekend whilst staff are away from dooyoo, it really would not be wise to bombard them with emails of things that are happening until the end of the weekend, and then if you feel it necessary report in one email giving all details, including a copy of the message left for you, and here it would be wise to leave the message in your messages on dooyoo so it can be verified.

things that aren't wise (to my mind so don't take is as gospel)

Don't retaliate, other than to politely thank the member for the ratings they are given and remind them that all ratings are paid ratings. May actually slow them down a bit if they realise they are giving you money.

If you are threatened in messages, do report it, because this should not be allowed to happen.

These are only my views, but other members may have other suggestions.

Really, I would taunt the person who would say something like that as I welcome as many reads as I can possibly accumulate; I'm one voucher short of ordering Miklós Rózsa's King of Kings complete score.

Let me know which plonker is leaving the threatening messages, with any luck they will have a static ipaddress, I'll trace it and send the boys round.

Seriously though I can't believe people would stoop so low. I would personally just ignore the person concerned and report to dooyoo who should inturn terminate the users account unless the boys terminated the user first!

Agreed, definately report it to dooyoo, but as rachel said, wait till after the weekend and report it as no-one is there on sat/sun and it would not get looked at till Monday anyway.

alternatively, pm a guide and ask them to report it for you - i'm always happy to do this if anyone needs it doing.

The reason for posting this was that the member was going to report every incidence of revenge rates. I explained to them that each one pays as a read, and that it would be better to wait til the end of the weekend and send one email as opposed to many different ones.

I am reposting the beginning of the thread again as the same kind of behaviour might equally happen to another member over the weekend.

It was brought to my attention that a member of dooyoo has been receiving threatening messages saying that they will receive NH ratings on their reviews if they continue to read such and such a member.

ALTERNATIVELY report the matter to a guide.

things that aren't wise (to my mind so don't take is as gospel)

Don't retaliate, other than to politely thank the member for the ratings they are given and remind them that all ratings are paid ratings. May actually slow them down a bit if they realise they are giving you money.

Sorry, I'll disagree with one of your points, Rachel.

If you seen something wrong, then send ONE email to Dooyo NOW. Don't wait. When writing the email, and only because it's the weekend, mark the email as High priority to ensure when the staff get in on Monday morning that the email is easily spotted. That way, you don't forget or get sidetracked and the complaint/concern is logged.

If further rules breaches occur and if you still have the time, then you might be able to make a second report on Monday. If not, then get in contact with one of the Guides on Monday via PM to follow up the query, although the email I received from Jared yesterday indicated that Dooyoo temporarily didn't have access to the Guide's Yahoo Group, so there might be a little delay.

Okay, there was a point to my delaying tactics. Let me explain since you were not privvy to the conversation I had with the member. They were receiving what they call revenge ratings, and I thought what the heck was the point of sending out an email straight away, and then finding five minutes later, there was another inappropriate rating and emailing again. By waiting until the end of the weekend, the member can gather all the points they want to bring to Dooyoo's attention together in one email, and whilst there are no staff over the weekend on dooyoo, I thought it a little pointless to send loads of loads of separate complaints.

The guides forum is down at the moment but we have Jared's email address which may not be common knowledge amongst members - so a guide should be able to get in touch easily anyway.

At the end of the day I don't see why people would worry about who read and rates whom. I guess some people have got nothing better to do with their time then to try and wind people up. Lisa x

This seems to be happening a bit too frequently on Dooyoo at the moment, a couple of weeks ago a member asked my opinion about messages they were getting from a guide which were a bit threatening and implying that they should be reading the guides reviews, I told them to report it and left it at that and to let Jared deal with it.

I assume that Dooyoo can monitor the messages being sent if they need to so it should not end up a he said she said debate but be clear cut if wrong doing is taking place.

The thread is more about receiving threatening messages than about ratings really as this kind of behaviour is unsatisfactory and should not be tolerated by anyone.
