I'm looking for a mobile phone that you can just make and receive calls with. I don't want text messaging on it at all, any ideas? Lisa x

All phones since about 1998 have been able to do that so you will be hard pushed!

I have two empty bean cans and a string you can have..! Or just don't text _ I don't use half the features of my phone, although texting, I can do.

Actually can anyone help - I need a cheap phone. I just upgraded my contract, and sold the new phone on ebay as my Motorola Razr I got on contract last year was fine and hardly used as I had a company mobile.

Now, a few days after I posted the upgrade phone, the damn razr is terminally sick, won't charge up or nothing..presumably the warranty is only 12 months too.. Sad

And I am broke(ish) and hate spending money on phones, always get a freebie on contract.

I doubt you will get any mobile without the text option now adays. My fathe rin law was looking for one but had to settle for one and had to ignore the text messaging bit of it and use it as a phone only. Maybe a basic phone such as This One might be a choice scratch

Is the phone from a contract? You should contact the phone company where you got it from. Not sure about the UK, but in Germany by European Law the warranty has to be 24 months.

I don't know to be honest. Technically it isnt the phone on contract, as of course I sold THAT one!

I would imagine, having had dealings with them for many years, that I will be fobbed off.

You will need to change your number then. And make sure you never text into any competitions or the like again.

That's just it, I never did take part in comps, voting or ordering any services. Was talking to a friend, and he said that mobile phone companies give our numbers out to these people! Dad had the same prob, and he has no idea how to text. Lisa

You mentioned that you'd voted on Big Bro - if you look at the link for WatchDog they say that's where some of the numbers come from... GMTV, BT, O2 and Endemol.

Did we not talk about this on another thread or am I going mad??

Anyway Just stop the text messages you are getting and then you will be fine.

Write to the people you get your phone from and tell them that you never ordered these messages and you want a refund. Call them everyday and write to them everyother day and they will soon give in.
