In Scotland we have a site that covers each area and ALL estate agents are represented in every area you can think of. nothing like that down south?

www.rightmove.com does lets Smile It is one of the best sites about, for estate agents.

I will ask my sis - she sold her SW19 flat there recently - she lived there for nearly 10 years (cat19) she is on dooyoo, if you are there.

Did you not see that documentary a little while ago?? It was one of those documentaries where BBC reporters go undercover, and get a job..

Not a company to be associated with!!!!

Trouble is, Foxtons do have a corner of the market. Search through them but I wouldn't recommend them for selling. Trick with property in London is to register with as many agents as you can and be in a strong position (ie have your deposit, references etc ready). You have to be pushy to get the best stuff.

I have found that the agents are a rip off and better to go private.

I think it is like that everywhere, definitely not exclusive to London. We were in the same position when we need to rent in Nottingham last year. It's cut-throat! affraid

I actually HATE estate agents full stop. The amount of times I have had a customer telling me "well the estate agent told me my house was worth this much", when it blatently isn't, in my job as a mortgage advisor is beyond a joke.

Also, I ended up paying a good few grand more for the flat I recently bought than that actual valuation because of the estate agent giving the owners inflated prices.

Spawn of Satan I tell you!
