I must admit that I don't know about Aldi here, as the next one is too far away - and where I am in Germany we have Aldi North, while in England there's Aldi South.
And Lidl - well, I don't know about such things as baked beans (I've tried baked beans once in my life and didn't particulary like them) but most of the other products I know well enough to know what to buy, as they really stock nearly the same as in Germany (actually, all brands which have "made for LIDL" on them are the same). And with their quarks, puddings, cheeses, fruit juices, frozen pizzas, ice cream, chocolates etc. I always was happy so far. And when I see what ridiculous price Tesco & Co charge you for olive oil and balsam vinegar - no chance I'll spend that.
But maybe it's different anyway, I'm always like a child when I see things there I can't get anywhere else in the UK ;o) |

| I go to my local Tesco (it's even bigger now, they have been building since summer and added another floor - went upstairs the other day and it's still a little disappointing). They need to give customers a map of the store now that they have increased the floor space downstairs (or use colour coded stripes like in US hospitals - green for fresh produce, red for meat, blue for alcohol...) But I do go to Lidl to buy my fruit juice, love their 100% juice ranges, red grape or apple. Also buy a their German rye bread. _________________ I'm not opinionated, I'm right

| Has to be Sainsburys for me. There discount range is good quality and cheap and they have everything I want when I want it (unlike Tescos) and the car park is free (unlike Morrisons) !! |

| What you on about Jay, you have to pay in Sainsburys car park too, and infact the Morrisons hasn't had a working pay and display machine for months so it is free at the moment! And you get your money back after shopping!! I love Morrisons, their lay out is just amazing and I love the price of their fruit and Veg and bakery etc. However I still like Lidl for sausages and some chilled goods- oh and their fruit when it is half price. People think that their fruit and veg must have something wrong with it because of the cost but they buy it from Tesco. |

Now I'm not sticking up for them because I used to be a manager there (lol) infact I hate Lidl/ Aldi to work there but for the 3 years I was at Lidl I saw a huge change in their brands- and customers didn't like it. They started a contract with Heinz and Walkers, Cadbury etc etc and therefor had set prices, which were not in line with their other products. Before I worked there I hated Lidl food (even though I had never really tried it- I am just a brand snob) but they have some lovely food now. Ok so some of it is hit and miss, with their poultry being the main hate of mine, but most things have been improved now. |

| Here's the disadvantage to me. I have to travel 16 miles to go shopping. If I shop in Aldi or Lidl for food, then I would have to go to the major supermarkets to make up for the missing items, and spend more in the long run. |

| Yeah that is the down side of Lidl/Aldi for sure. You can do a whole shop there but when there is so much choice from other supermarkets you tend not to. |

| I could not do a whole shop at either of these stores since they dont stock all the items I need. |

| I have shopped in Waitrose a few times lately, and if I had to pick one it would be them. I hate the morrisons set up, and having to find a pound for a trolley is frustrating. We dont live anywhere near a tesco and asda is probably 6-7 miles away too, so its coop most of the time. _________________ Be the Change You Want to see in the World

Thats only usually where Sainsbury's don't own the car park. The one in my home town, the council own the carpark, and the money goes to them. But in my new store, Sainsbury's own the land, so parking is free. Other stores have the same policies. |

You get your 50p/£1 back so they don't make any money on it, but it is because the shop is right next to town and people used to just park there for free and go shopping and there was never any spaces. |

| I'll vote for Waitrose too... they might be slightly more expensive but the quality os good so I have no wastage. I can also walk so I shop daily and look out ofr "short-dated" offers on things I wouldn't normally justify (eg game mid-week or pre-made cream cakes if I'm feeling too lazy to cook my own!) |

I definitely couldn't do a whole shop there. Anyway, i use my local market for about 80% of my shop. Gotta use it or it'll disappear |
