Many are not marked as region free but can be made so by entering codes with the handset. Why region free ?

Basically because you can often get a film cheaper on a different region. Lisa x

I think you should find a VCR/DVD recorder you want to buy, then check for the multi-region codes before purchasing. Then, see if the codes correspond to other sites.
