| In Scotland we have a site that covers each area and ALL estate agents are represented in every area you can think of. nothing like that down south? | |

| Trouble is, Foxtons do have a corner of the market. Search through them but I wouldn't recommend them for selling. Trick with property in London is to register with as many agents as you can and be in a strong position (ie have your deposit, references etc ready). You have to be pushy to get the best stuff. | |

| I have found that the agents are a rip off and better to go private. | |

I think it is like that everywhere, definitely not exclusive to London. We were in the same position when we need to rent in Nottingham last year. It's cut-throat!

| I actually HATE estate agents full stop. The amount of times I have had a customer telling me "well the estate agent told me my house was worth this much", when it blatently isn't, in my job as a mortgage advisor is beyond a joke.
Also, I ended up paying a good few grand more for the flat I recently bought than that actual valuation because of the estate agent giving the owners inflated prices.
Spawn of Satan I tell you!
