There is a new review showing up but the person is a non member. Has something changed ? or did they post below the required words ?

No, it's 131 words, so it's officially a premium review, whatever that is.

There is a member with the same name - I checked, and that new review isn't listed on her page. That member hasn't written a review since 2000, so maybe it's not the same person. And if that's the case, surely it's a bit worrying that people can post reviews that seem to be written by you? Could do things to your reputation as a writer on this sort of site.

Dooyoo's been a bit funny this weekend, really...

Could be a glitch and maybe should be reported to Alex although logic says its not a review, simply a mini review. Did you press the mini review section of that member ?

Doesn't seem to be a glitch, it appears dooyoo are inviting anyone who wants to write to submit their own review

Quote :
Have you used this product as well? Our tip: Write your own review and tell others about your experience. It's easy - you don't even need to be a member. Help other consumers to make an informed decision. And if you want to enjoy the advantages of a dooyoo membership, you can register for free later on.

We might see an influx of anonymous reviews over the next few days, weeks and months.[/b]

It wasn't anonymous. It had an existing members name on it. That is the worrying aspect.

All it has is a name, it's not clickable from within the actual review. The only time the name is clickable is when you look at the list of members who rated, then the name is linked.

However, if you click you only get some kind of 'error' message telling you to check spelling.

Please double-check the spelling of the username and try again.

Maybe it asks for anonymous writers to leave a name of some sort so you will get loads of reviews from John, Jack, Jill, Jayne and so on.

As long as the reviews don't link to an actual member I'm not too bothered.

there's another one under house and garden. i think it is generally non members getting a taster. they won't get paid for reads unless thay sign up so dooyoo are getting reviews without having to pay, good ploy i guess but maybe a bit misleading to members of public who submit reviews without realising they could get paid.

And one worrying fact is that members of the public can call themselves by names that already exist on the site. Now that is a dangerous area and could lead to mis-use.

I think that allowing non-members to post reviews is cause for concern with regards to site abuse - surely it makes it more difficult for Dooyoo to keep tabs on who keeps writing NU reviews? Also, in terms of review quality.... I'm guessing that a lot of non-members are going to just post a rant on something rather than write a detailed crown-worthy review.

Like Rachel says, the most worrying thing is that people can now post a rubbish review in your name and thus drag down your writing (and personal?) reputation on the site. I think that really does need to be addressed by dooyoo asap.

I don't think that the quality of the review comes into play because not helpful ones get removed, and apparently dooyoo ask members to improve their reviews (read that in a review) before removing them. What worries me is double identities and people frankly taking the piss by using other people's user names.

This is really weird. I went in as if a non member, and tried to type a review. There is nowhere that you give your name so how are anonymous members putting names on their reviews ?

Decide yourself:

Short review:

It only takes a minute. Tell us about your experience without logging in and in less than 75 words. Fast and easy.

Premium Review:

Do you have a lot of stuff to tell? Then write a premium review and make money with your knowledge, thanks to the miles system. Not a member yet? No problem - register for free after you have written your review. Try it!

I'm slightly confused re the premium review as its suggesting that you write the review then register. As the preceeding sentence mentions money, I dont see how you could make money on your first review if you haven't registered.

I can understand why dooyoo from a financial point of view would encourage non members to post reviews, more reviews being posted means more hits for dooyoo's but it will lead to a lot of one off reviews. If the quality of these reviews are SU or below it wont be particularly encouraging for the general dooyoo read and rater.

Lastly if many post without registering it will be interesting to see if members decide to read them or not as they wont be getting their 3p back.

I still don't get how they have names. There is nowhere that tells you to put a user name and yet all the blank ones have a sign off name (or user name)

I've just logged out and then tried the write a review, there is a banner which says:

Quote :
New! Write your own review with logging in!

Does this suggest that if its more than 75 words it forces you to register?

No you are not forced to register from what I can see. I dare not actually write one to check it but I did go all the way to producing a draft copy and did not post it. I was asked if I wanted to become a member but chose not to.
