| In general the guides do a good job but there are others out there who would also like to be given the opportunity to guide. At the moment a guide is effectively for ‘life’. This has led to accusations of the guides being a closed club and the perception that they now hold to much power on the site. In order to address these concerns and to make the whole guiding system more inclusive some people, some guides even, have suggested that the appointment of guides should be time limited say 6 months or a year. After that time their position would be up for grabs IF there were people suitable and interested in taking over. If nobody was found then of course they would carry on until someone was...
A debate is going on amongst the guides on this question but this is something that also affect all members so althouth the details have not been sorted out yet the question I’d like to put to you is...

| I am all for guide rotation and though I enjoy doing the job if someone really wanted to have a go I would step aside for them.
On the point of the guides being a club weilding all the power, some people will always percieve us as that. Maybe those people that complain loadest sould do a stint at it.

I think it mostly a misconception to think that guides have a lot of power but seeing new people taking over regularly and some of the older faces taking well earned rests might help to give the impression that anyone can have a go at guiding as long as the fulfill Dooyoo criteria.

| I'm still relatively new to all this but if you dont mind me adding my 2 pence ....
If enough people were interested and met the dooyoo criteria, I think rotation is a good idea, maybe 12 months in the role and then if someone else wants it, the current guide could step down or apply for a different category.
The thing is even though I'm new some guides seem quite passionate about the position (thats a good thing by the way) and they took the role on without guide rotation in place so is it fair to ask them step down?

| Well, my opinion is that guides will eventually get bored, so if rotated the guides will stay passionate and if if was just between 2 people they would carry on staying passiobnate.I am for it since i would love to give it a try | |

There are a couple of vacancies so why don't you apply for one of them. Details can be found on the guide page on Dooyoo. Even if they are not areas that you are passionate about or write a lot in my personal opinion is that as a guide it is behaviours more than knowledge that is important unless it is something geeky like hardware. Once you do get a guide position you can always ask to switch to another category that you are more interested in if it becomes available.

| I think the guides do a great job for little glory and lots of aggro. I'm amazed they'd want to do it long term | |

It appears that some of them will not relinquish their role no matter how long they have been doing it and regardless of any other members interest in guiding that category. That is the bit i disagree with. BTW, guiding is fun otherwise and I must be a rabbit as the shit does not stick.

. Sounds a bit like the Labour party. Can't people 'share' categories? I thought that was the case on some of them

| Some do, but only in the busy cats.
I have maybe 20-30 reviews a week, tops. half of them are 120 words, out of the rest there are maybe half a dozen good ones so no need to share mine with anyone. When I did Motors I had maybe 2 reviews a week!
