Pile all your stuff in boxes and move it to your new location preferably in a car or van. In extreme cases a bicycle will also do, but it's pretty hard work.

wise words....then again you are not new to that game yourself. Some people make the error of leaving their possessions where they are and moving the house itself, but this is an ill advised venture.

Indeed. I am moving to uni tomorrow... and this is something I've had much trouble with. Simply impossible to fit a house in a fruit box.

Track down anyone on your street who has moved in recently and may still have loads of big moving boxes piled up in their garage. It's a bugger trying to get enough boxes and you always need more than you expect.

Another thing - always pack the kettle, coffee, tea bags etc in an obvious box. Once you get to the new house the first thing everyone will want is a drink.

Label the boxes with which room they should go in at your destination - that way you don't have to unpack all the kitchen stuff to find your shampoo and towels.

Sorry if this is all a bit too sensible

By the way, moving away from Kettering sounds like a really good idea - unless you are heading to Corby!

No we are not moving to Corby!!!! I cant stand Corby, and the thought that it could be joining Kettering soon has given me the kick up the backside to get out of Kettering!!

We are moving to Conisbrough, Sheffield as we have family there. Thanks for the crackin' advice Wink

Good luck with the move.

I have hundreds of boxes so if you are in Poole, they are yours!

get insurance from your removal man, don't just use a man and a van unless you don't have a lot to shift!!! Our stuff came down fom Scotland in January after a couple of months in storage. We had heaps of damage AND we let them pack our crockery and other breakables at extra cost to us as apparently that was the only way things are insured. They did half the job I would have done myself, and lots of stuff got broken, including some damage to big items. We settled with the insurers eventually for nearly £1K.

Hi spoilt_little_brat:

Moving to a new place is really tiring even you have planned it in advance.

My only advice is label all the boxes (box number) - what's in there. This will help you decide what box is very important to open as soon as you settle to your new home. Have a hard copy of the box list for future reference.

By the way, a little of Asian supertition - FIRST bring a salt, rice and water to the house before you load other stuffs into the house. Why? It brings abundance and prosperity to the people living inside the house.

Good luck!

Rey
