| You probably know some of his stuff anyways: Conan the Barbarian (perfection in fantasy scoring), RoboCop 1 & 3, the Free Willy series (unexpectedly has some really outstanding music), The Blue Lagoon of 1980, Cherry 2000, Farewell to the King, the original Starship Troopers, the touching It's My Party for solo piano (performed by Basil himself), etc.
Such a loss as many of us fans have been waiting for the day of his triumphant return, now never to be fulfilled. Seems I will have to buy Lonesome Dove too one of these days. | |

| I went to the Schools Proms 2006 at the Royal Albert Hall last night. We had some Sibelius, Elgar, a bit of jazz, a full orchestra from Belfast and all sorts of other things. There are some talented kids out there. Why oh why do people insist on clapping along to orchestral pieces? I wanna hear the music, not some idiots clapping. | |

| Like the youth orchestra then? Apparently, it took 'em 12 hours to get to London by coach via ferry and Scotland. They had to be up at 7am today to travel back to NI so expected to arrive home at around 11pm and were then expected in school on Friday. You are slave drivers in Ireland, mate! | |

| I'm Impressed I also dislike people clapping along to music, particularly the Radetzky March, or singing like you English often do with Elgar's First Pomp and Circumstance... The impression would probably be the same, though, if people started clapping right after Mahler's Sixth Symphony without first taking in the tragic conclusion. That would really wind me up too. | |

| I hate that too. I went to see Luciano Pavarotti about 4 years ago when he opened the Bath Spa and when Nessun Dorma was sung people were clapping along before it even got to the good part and were singing and making fluffy noises. I was totally loving it and people acting like uneducated baboons really took something away from the whole moment. | |
