Tescos have announced they will refund any damages caused to cars by 'dirty fuel' purchased from one of their stations. About time, a week after it first happened. Theyve tried their utmost to get out of it. Its said this will cost them £5 million - I hope so. About time they got shafted as they seem to shaft everybody else.
No doubt the cost will be passed onto us somewhere down the line. I dont think theyve come out of this debacle very well.

Morrisons has said they will pay out too.
I think rather than coming out looking bad, this will give Tesco's reputation a slight boost, in that they were the first to step forward and offer to pay for 'reasonable' damages.

There was a full page advert in today's Metro simply saying 'sorry'.
To me, that will mean they will come off fine with it all and will cover the costs with a penny or two on the cost of their fuel.
(or more likely telling the suppliers to cut theirs by a penny or two)

They will have corporate liability insurance. It won't cost them anything significant in the short term - certainly a lot less than the cost of losing their 'gloss'.
Glad I use diesel!

Also I'm pretty sure given their huge buying power that the supplier will actually fund the cost, for Tesco the concern is about brand image and not the money in this case.
