I think its a great idea; it will reinforce members to login more than they do perhaps, but on a personal note my email box is becoming stuffed with review company info so yep I definately think that would be a great idea.

I've linked this thread to the tech guys, we'lll see what comes out of it. As for the emailing notifications of private messages, as long as that wasn't the default setting and it was obvious where to find it, I think it's a good idea as well.
