Do you mean the Dooyoo comp or the one for this site?

| I cannot see anything on the guide forum so have posted a question which I guess will be answered on Monday although Jared may respond directly as he does lurk about on this site as well. | |

| Actually, my office got moved around a bit and I'm having issues with the guide forum myself (as well as my internal email, but that should be super-temporary). I blame the new computer, which is pretty much my old computer only without all my stuff on it. D'oh, as Homer would say.
I'm finishing up the dooyoo Mag right now...and was still pretty undecided on what this month's competition category would be. So why not?
Travel it is. Take a look at the Site Map to see all the subcategories of "Travel" it's a pretty freaking broad category in places. -Jared

| Jared - sorry to be picky, but I have to ask the question - what's the point of having competitions on Dooyoo?
They're never advertised on the community page and only get a mention on here - largely, when prompted.
The winners never get notified. It seems that I won the film competition in March. I never knew until somebody said something about it somewhere else.
Competitions are supposed to motivate people or encourage interest in something. With neither of the previous conditions in place they seem, well, rather silly to me.
I fully appreciate your 'orrible work load and to be honest, I think you're doing a fantastic job. I just wonder whether it might be easier to postpone competitions until you have the means to advertise them in advance etc and show them properly on the community page? I should imagine they do more harm than good at the moment. Anyone who isn't a member of this site won't know that there is now a competition on Travel reviews. They might feel a bit disgruntled if they find out after the event, so to speak.
It's just a thought really?

| I've never entered a competition but I was always vaguely aware they were going on even if I was ignoring them. Is there really not something on the comm page about them? | |

| It's travel. Toblerone being from Switzerland does not count as a travel review however | |

| Everyone should come to Belfast for a piss up and they can write a review on how brilliant Belfast is.
Edit: stupid site won't even allow me to say "*Bad word* up". Nazis.

. I am planning a trip, funnily enough. My Mum died suddenly 2 weeks ago, saw her younger brother, my Uncle from Donegal last Wed at funeral and planning a little holiday to NW Ireland/NI and I want to take in Belfast and other sights while I am there. Hoping for October time as I dont think I can get a week out there before then, much as I would love to. I need to squeeze Dublin in, but that can be next year's holiday. I am looking forward to time in both Donegal and Belfast..both overdue. Uk/Ireland being my chosen specialist subject, I will be sure to write a half decent review.. H

| I will Aaron - I am hoping I can arrive 10-12 October for one week - or so..can get flights for a penny plus tax, which is always a help. I need a week off before that now but dont want to travel in holiday periods.. | |
