If I see one more of these, I shall shut down the computer for the day and get out and sunbathe. I am so fed up with seeing "more info" comments and even saw one telling a writer to write their review like theirs ! (in order words begging for a read). What info ? that's what people need to know. They have no idea what is missing. My friend joined the site and lasted one review because people asked her for more info and she had no idea what info she could give that would help make a buying decision. AGH !

when someone leaves a comment saying "More info!" just keep asking them what they mean.

Then ask them what they mean by that and so on.

See how long it s before they realise you are taking the piss

They aren't on my reviews but on new members. It really pisses me off. I am actually approaching members and telling them that a comment like that doesn't help anyone at all.

Rach, stop trying to be the caped crusader of review sites. People who are idiots are soon found out to be idiots so stop putting yourself in the firing line all the time.

Yeh I know they are hard work sometimes. I sit and think what the hell I would need to know about that particular product. I was sat thinking this the other day, and looked up at the product and found that what they had written had nothing to do with the topic !!! that made my life easier, but unfortunately not theirs !

Must admit when I started out I read a few other reviews in the same category and since they covered most of what I thought important I just wrote the bits they missed out.

Of course I got all the usual comments of needs more info and I got really confused because I couldn't understand why I needed to write what other people already had. Unfortunatly, not everyone put me right in a nice way, and it put me off for a while.

It makes sense to me now but I always try to say in the nicest way to new members how to improve their reviews, without making it sound like I am saying, I can do it better than you.

What's even more amusing is when someone rates a review helpful, and then leaves a comment saying what a clear and informative review it was! Lisa x

Actually a clear and informative review could be helpful rather than very helpful, having clear information but not sufficient to merit the VH.

True, but I've read comments saying you've told me everything I need to know and in a clear way, and they still rate it helpful. Lisa x

I think you care too much about the rate.

Your probably right, but I do feel that some people could be more helpful when leaving comments. I understand that there are a lot of people who don't care what ratings they get, but a lot work hard on there reviews.
I had a helpful rating the other day and the person explained what was missing, this was very helpful and I totally agreed with them. However when people rate say H and leave a comment telling the person they included everything in a clear and precise way, the receiving member must get confused.
I know you'll always get some funny raters who say i rated it this way because, I didn't agree with your opinion, I don't like the product, or the best yet, I would've written it differently.
Luckily these people are few and far between otherwise people would soon leave. Lisa x

I prefer the sites where people leave anon rates and comments as there is no peer pressure and the reviews can be short and helpful.

tripadvisor is my favourite for short honest no filler reviews and people don't get narked about rates.

not having a dig at you, just the system of review site peer pressure.

I musn't let it bother me I know, as I know that there are some people who will always rate in a peculiar way! Like I say these people are few and far between, and I should just ignore them! Lisa x

Not really, I rate in an odd way if you consider odd to be different to the 95% of people who don't read the review but rate it VU/VH to fit in and get reads/rates back. maybe the people who rate differently are the ones you need to thank for being honest or not as the case may be, but I would not consider ignoring someone who rates differently. If that happened in real life people like Picaso would have never sold a painting.

Sorry you've totally misunderstood what I meant. What i mean is some people (not many) rate a review low and then comment that it's because they don't agree with you, hate the product, or in one case would've written it differently. It's these people who I try and ignore! You rate a review on it's usefulness, and not on your opinions of the product.
However I don't take it personally and continue to read and rate their reviews.
Anyway back on topic, is it enough to put more info in a comment, or should you elaborate?
