Racist postings

I realise the specific issue is under consideration, so I won't refer to it, and hope that this thread doesn't do that either.

I would like to make a general point though. I am disappointed that the site owners here didn't make a strong point that they were opposed to racist postings. The sense of the post they made was to say "Sorry, our hands are tied. Nothing we can do about it. Would LOVE to have racist posts here, but just can't." (I'm paraphrasing slightly, of course).

I would hope that FOIB was strongly opposed to racism, rather than just being opposed to it because its hands are tied. I hope that FOIB has a zero tolerance policy.

We do have a non tolerance stance on racism. It is being dealt with. We have a responsibility to deal with any racist remark on the forum and take this responsibility very seriously.

As you said, it is currently being discussed. Give us the chance to do that first please.

I am 100% confident that the board will do the right thing Keith.

locking threads all the time is just going to piss people off and stop conversations.

Why not just edit the racist remark and allow the conversation to carry on?

On a personal, and anti-censorship note, I'd prefer to see racist postings left unedited, thus giving me the platform to rebut them. I don't want to see threads edited to pieces or removed altogether.

However, as the terms and conditions of the board forbid racist postings, I think you're going to have to edit asap and if you can't keep the sense of the thread by doing that, you'll have to remove the threads.

By the same token, you're going to have to ban racist posters.

If I can be banned for not being a proper person, I don't see why others shouldn't be drop-kicked into the blast furnace for advocating racial hatred.

I'd like to make it quite clear that the Mysterious Mr Turtlewind loathes and detests all forms of racism and culturalism and sexism.

Apart from people from Dorking, they're weird.
