| Hotmail all the way. Easiest to use and gives you tonnes of memory you'll only ever fill like 5% of. It's free and only got one bad point - Run by MSN | |

I have invites if anyone wants one. Absolutely. By far and away the best email program out there. - Quote :

Nope, sorry but it is a pain in the neck to use. All those flashing ads everywhere and less storage than gmail by a mile. It just doesn't cut the mustard no more, other than giving you access to messanger. I have invites too of anyone wants them, though it would be an @googlemail.com addy now for those in the UK.

| Yes people can have messenger without hotmail. As for the comments on G Mail, I don't like the layout very much at all. | |

| yeah, you can use messenger without hotmail its just that mine was set up yonks ago when I first went online in about '96 and have collected a hell of a lot of contacts via my old hotmail addy so don't think it would be worth changing to use my gmail account.
As for the layout, it is (IMHO) one of the cleanest there is. NOTHING attracts your eye away from where it should be, unlike Hotmail/Yahoo etc.
The conversations facility is simply brilliant in my opinion and now that I can access it on my mobile, its become indispensible to me.
Oh, and it now has a calender function built in that can promt you to add dates that appear in emails and then let you know when they come up.
And oh again! The label fuction compared with the traditional email folder option is fab too. Instead of having one email having to go in one folder, you can 'label' it with multiple labels. Ie, emails about uni from my mate that also had personal stuff in it can be labelled 'uni' and 'mate' so that I can access it by hitting either label link. You can also set filters so that they bypass the inbox but still show in the label link as being unread. I used to use that for my alerts on ciao, leaving my inbox free.
I really could go on and on about gmail, I think its brill!

The layout is fresh and clean Rachel, and works well. You can also download a handy little program called gmail notifier which sits in your taskbar by the clock and pops up when you get a new message.

| I have hotmail, as well as my everyday one. Only problem I find with it is that it often lets in viruses and trojans. Fortunately my own Virus checker spots them. | |

| For the last 5 years I have used Hotmail, Yahoo and recently Google/Gmail which I got invited to. (Yes folks its great to be back now that I have established a signal in my room!)
The best however has been Postmaster. (co.uk) I got it through my dad who uses it for personal emails. It doesn't have a messenger system but it is quick and efficient and has a lot of good features even if you aren't a gold or platinum member.
Last year for example when Postmaster got its knickers in a twist due to problems and with it being down, they gave every member and extra 2 gb of memory on their emails which is great news for business users. I use Postmaster for all my dy and ciao alerts - I really wouldn't have it any other way.

| I use Gmail - really easy to use, I never have to delete messages, I can use it to backup my files since there's so much space, the integration with GoogleTalk is really nice and well, I use all the other Google services too I never get any spam either - Hotmail is really bad for that. I use Analytics for site stats (it's utterly amazing, I don't understand why they're not charging for it!), the calendar and the search engine. As well as Google Talk the stand alone program. | |
