PostSubject: Films that should never have sequels   Films that should never have sequels EmptyThu 29 Jun 2006, 13:39

As we all know there have been a lot of films that have been milked to death time and time again, just to rake in the money.

Jaws is a typical example, The Omen is another and also the Halloween films. When are film makers going to realise that doing these endless sequels is just a big waste of time, and concentrate on producing high quality films?

Reminds me of a story. When the stage play "The Madness of George III" was made into the film the decision was made to retitle it "The Madness of King George" as it was thought that the American audience would assume the original title was the third film in a series and be put off from watching it, not having seen Madness I and II.

It's like those Halloween films with Mike Myers, what are we on now Halloween 1000 Myers back from the dead again? how many times does it take for someone to die? Apparently quite a lot in the film industry. Lisa x

I must be the only one that actually like speed 2, that was probably because the lead bloke was hot though.

Remember The Net that starred Sandra Bullock? well they did a sequel that was dire to say the least!

No, I mean it.

being ex-Navy I enjoyed the boat-type thriller.

The ending was a bit corny though but overall it was entertaining.

I liked Under Siege as well although Under Siege 2 was a bit "so what?"

Same reason a lot of them would not go and see Malcolm X. scratch

Not only the film but the DVD Box set had very poor sales.

No problems with Die Hard but Lethal Weapon went downhill on the last two.

I agree that the Die Hard ones remained good, but the Lethal Weapon ones weren't so good latterly.

Like I said the film industry sees that a film is a hit, and then keeps milking it for all that it's worth. Lisa x

Here's a tissue Angus, don't cry. You've got to admit though that the last couple of Lethal Weapons outings weren't as good as the previous ones.

What about the Jaws films for what name sake, we all new what would happen. You get some idiot say 'oh look a shark' and the next minute the rubber shark would devour them. The characters in those films were just so thick and unbelievable. Lisa x
