PostSubject: Helium   Helium EmptyThu 28 Dec 2006, 16:37

just came across a site in the staes called Helium. It looks similar to Shvoong in set up but is easy to post on as you don't have to wait for suggestions to be approved you can just write about anything you want. This may mean, like Shvoong, the payment may be very low a sthere is no direct cash back from a product link. I have posted a few reviews and will let you know how it works out. If its okay a few of you may be getting an invite from me (another way of uping the cash return)Have a look or await further reports from yours truly.

One thing I will add is that if their forum is anything to go buy its quite a busy place.

well Ive earned 8 cents in 4 days, okay thats not much but then other members say that it starts slow and soon builds some articles making a dollar a month. Its easy to post and I would say that if you want to give it a go post a few old Ciao or Dooyoo pieces. You can suggest anything you want but best to write in existing topics to begin with as that will potentialy start earning straight away, starting a new topic will put you in a queue.

If anyone want s to know more give me a shout but it does look like an okay site particularly if you want to write on a wider range of ideas than just products.

I'm not sure, I've not actually visited yet..

I logged onto epinions yesterday for first time in five months, and I have $50 in my account so churned a few travel reviews on there, I might focus on it to see if I can get to 100 this year.!

the thing with Helium is its an info site so you can literaly write about anything, if its not there you can start it. Interestingly my top earner is a music review of a local band that I am the only one in that category so it dosnt seem to matter how specialised you get.

Think of it as Wikepedia entries, they dont have to be massive, just factual, my last two were asdiverse as Famous Quotes from Witty Women and The Origins of Friday the Thirteenth. That said there is a place for reviews, I have put a lot of film, music and books up and I have a top ten films of all time type thing currently sat at No1 out of 87.

I think most people writing here will find that the standard is not too taxing. Cross posting is acceptable and churning isnt a problem due to the way that the information is set out (i.e. no "last 100 posts" type thing.

Also forgot to say, as a member I can invite up to fifty people and earn a small return if they post here too. If anyone is thinking of using the site and want to send me their e-mail so i can formally invite them it would be much appreciated.

Just emailed the powers that be again. Trouble is, if I click the link it jumps automatically into my wanadoo email, and they replied that they cannot help me unless I use my original email addy, even though they answered another query on that one earlier about how one proposes new areas.

if you write in a topic that is already set up it goes live straight away into the middle position. Over the next few days it gets rated by other members of the site and that will cause it to move into the place on the ladder that people think it deserves.

If you chose to initiate a new topic it may take four or five days. Once live some of mine have earned money by the next day. Earnings seem to be calculate a couple of times a day.

As for payment, well it just depends on how much you post and where it ends up on the ladder. I must say that most of the things i have cross posted from Ciao have ended up quite high and thats where you start seeing the returns. I've earned 60 cents in seven days with about 10 cross posted articles half of which has come from just one piece. Early days but I'll let you know how the payments go, but its looking okay. I think you could get to the $25 cash in every couple of months and thats no worse than ciao really.

I visited the site as well, but it seems that the reviews are quite short (express review) and being ranked against the rest of the members posted on the same category. Well, the categories vary widely similar to Speakers Corners which you could post anything that you can tell about your opinion on the subject being debated.

As I explained to Rachel, the reward system is not clearly explained.

But something to visit once in a while if you want to search some topics that you are interested in.
