I think input from all members helps the site because the members count and what they feel is appropriate also counts and helps the site evolve.

But why should I be allowed an opinion - I just keep saying no when people ask me to guide so I don't really have any rights to comment on this.

Why not? The guides are there for the benefit of the members primarily (at least, that's how I see it), so why shouldn't members have feedback and ideas? If there are ways I can better help other members in my role, I want to hear about them!

Totally agree, member feedback should be encouraged.

I think maybe they should have back-up guides, so if a guide goes on Holiday then the back-up could take over.

Helen (UK & Ireland guide) covers for me and I cover for her when we are away.

I'm aware that guides, if they're going to be absent from the site for a short period of time, will ask other guides to cover for them in their absence.

That is a good idea, except that the two people may have different opinions like, say, what makes a crownworthy review.

If I came back and noticed that something I thought was very "crownworthy" but had not been awarded one I could contact dooyoo and suggest it had been overlooked. It does not have to be awarded at the end of that week.

I think the back up guides is a good idea

If there is a full complement of guides, all of whom are active on the guides' forum, then having a specific set of backup guides is superfluous, as categories will get covered IMO.

If there are gaps in the medium to long term, which I believe there are at the moment, then I would urge Dooyoo to fill the gaps or look to have a set of backup guides.

If anyone fancies being a guide, drop me a line or get in contact with Jared at Dooyoo.

Same here. Guides don't award crowns; Dooyoo do. We guides can suggest and nominate, but we don't award the crowns.
