Maybe just being silly

Can someone tell me at the very bottom of the site

It says Registered Users: Then shows names. Does that mean they are online?

Thanks

So you mean that I can be signed in and not show up?

One point - I normally hide my online presence, but don't here, because I'm a moderator.

I really think that administrators and moderators should not hide their presence from the members, as those members may wish to contact an admin or mod.

Cheers

the reason I hide my status is that I am usually in uni during the day (or at least try to be - am still here now from this morning!) and so like to be able to keep an eye on things without actually being here, so to speak.

I would rather it was kept a personal prefference thing rather than being forced to always show yourself online (oooh, that sounds rude!)

Ok dumb site question no 67

sometimes you log on and see new message 230306 2301 hrs (name of member)

But when you go into that section, that message doesn't show...for ages sometimes

is it me going mad or what?

If you click on the little envelope/bit of paper arrow thing (just after the member name) then it should take you directly to that message that was last posted.

I think it may be a cookie problem - I have no trouble seeing things as they happen but Thingy has to refresh the page several times before it decides to show up.

So clear your cache/temp internet files regularly I guess but it doesn't cause me trouble. What internet thingy are you using - Firefox/ IE etc?

D Smile

IE

I had never seen the little bit of paper thingie before. That seems to work when the messages don't appear. I've cleared my temp files too. Hate clearing cookies on this machine as I then have to remember my passwords and stuff. You wouldn't know I work in IT would you!
