What do you think of the new video reviews introduced by Ciao? Will you be submitting one? Do you think they will be popular?

Personally I think they are good, as they can give the consumer a better idea of how the product works, and if there are any points prehaps missed by the reviewer.
However I will not be making any. a) I am too shy and b) I have not got a camcorder!!

lol!

i think they quite cool, although imo i think they are not as helpful as a well written review.

Can you earn money with video reviews btw?

I think that if well presented, they may be useful but there are potential dangers. I presume that ciao are going to li,it video reviews to certain areas and let us hope that they control it and do not let people submit silly categories. I was thinking that this really could be abused and would hope that they look at the vids before they go live on the site

I dont think that you can rate them can you? They are good and they are also good for the community as you can see who is doing the review; but have to agree that they dont seem to be as detailed. I will be doing one, but want to find out more about them soon.

Also Rachel I agree with you, this system can be, and will be so easily abused. I just hope that Ciao keep an eye on it, or have a system like the pictures when it takes up to 5 days to come onto the site.

Pictures come on the site straight away from my experience. I am very tempted to do a video one for a lark and have an MP3 player to review. Wonder who will be the first to do one. I looked at it the other day and it is live and ready to receive reviews.

Don't think it'll work for my film reviews. Although that'll be the excuse I use next time they catch me smuggling my camcorder into the cinema... Wink

Looks the same as an ordinary review, and ciao give you a thumbnail to open the video I think. I went in and you upload a vid from your computer, but I hope to goodness that ciao check them before they go live.

Wouldn't surprise me Fi. If you are on AOL why not use your internet explorer once you have signed in instead of the AOL browser.

I tried that too and still got the same message. I can't find out anything about rich media so it may even be something to do with my security setting. I can watch videos from other sites and it is just the ciao one I can't. Well there may be somebody out there that knows the answer?

Have you noticed they have now dropped the payment to £6.00 per video and it is for the first 1000 Reviews from all countries (DE, FR, IT, ES, UK and NL)

If you want to cash in on any payment offered I would get in now if I were you

Yeah but Ciao are saving themselves £4000 by dropping the amount from £10 to £6 per review.

They shouldn't advertise one amount then within weeks decide to drop it by such a large amount.

I would think that the way things are going with popularity for putting up video reviews, they would up the first ones to 50 quid as an incentive !

I just had a look at a couple of the video reviews and I must admit, I stopped each and every one of them after less than a minute.

I rather read about the product than watch some wonky and wobbly video in not too good quality with people reading from the manufacturers handbook in some cases it seems.

It took me ages to work out how to get my computer to play them and now there is nothing there that I want to watch. I think if we could rate them the ratings wouldn't be very high at the moment and it is probably a good thing comments can't be left Very Happy

Isn't it just for products though. They don't pay for the cafe area usually so I don't think they would start now? Wish I had a video camera I could do one on condoms lol!

They haven't said which is why I wondered. I tried to upload it to a cafe thread and they said the file was not big enough.
