| Why are people afraid of off topic reviews ? You simply rate them not helpful and explain that the best way to go forward is to ask the guide to move them. It's not a big deal, but they are useless for people searching for information. It's not a slur on the writing style either, just a misfortune that can happen to anyone, but one that needs fixing. | |

How confusing - an OT is surely an OT and not an NH or am I missing the point? I'm only too happy to OT a review or NH it for that matter because the reviews are generally so totally obviously not in the right place or not useful that I'm less worried about revenges for those two grades than I am for H or SH

| quite right too. Its obviously not helpful even if its written in such a way that it looks like a really good review. If it is in the wrong place, what help is it to those looking for it ? | |

| Trouble is though there are a lot of categories on Dooyoo that are in the wrong place and they don't seem to worried about getting them moved. For instance I have Creative Writing, Ballet Dancing and Car Boot Sales under Toys & Games. If anyone writes a review in these categories they are in the right topic but wrong section, so how do you deal with that rating wise? | |

| If they are in the right category then they are ok. If not I will rate not helpful. Take for example a review that states, I could not find another slot for this so decided to put it here. Its not good enough. They have a suggestion place all of their own and there is no excuse for it. | |

| Yes, so if someone wrote about car boot sales in teh car boot sales slot, even though it was under toys & games it would be rated as per the review helpfulness? | |

I agree with Wendy. If there's no intent to put an op in the wrong place and it's a genuine mistake then an NU seems harsh. Dooyoo's official stance on it is to rate SU achilly or at least it was up until recently. Clearly, if somone mis-posts deliberately or 'cos they can't be arsed to find the right place then that's a different matter. You can end up anal with all this rigid "You must rate this way" malarkey even if Dooyoo *ever* sought the cats out once and for all, which is unlikely. At the end of the day, it's still a personal rating and even with a mis-post you might still find it useful in some way. Just my view, of course

of course. Where dooyoo chose to put the review is their problem, but if the review was on car boots in the car boot section, it is on topic.

I agree some of the areas are cock ups on dooyoo's part but some reviews are just in the wrong slot cos the writer can't be arsed to find the right slot.

| Yeah, I wish dooyoo were more interested in getting things in the right place. They could do with having someone to do this job all the time as there are always reviews in the wrong place but a major overhaul needs to be done and everyhting sorted out! | |

| A member cannot help it if the category they are looking for is in the wrong place. I understand that, but the ones I read stated "I couldn't find the right slot for this so put it here !"
That's a different thing altogether, but yes, there are loads of categories that need cleaning out.

| yes that's right, there is no "move review" functionality as such
I think there is a difference between a dooyoo error and laziness though, or indeed a member suggestion where the member makes a mistake, as often happens.
Whether they are of use to the end customer depends on how they search. Most people might use google, in which case it might not matter the review is OT. I suspect more members use Google, than coming to dooyoo and then searching.
So the public might see the review regardless, but again the cumulative star rating is messed up for an OT review.

| I've guided a lot of members into re-posting and deleting old reviews so they end up in the right place. There is a "move review" button we can use but as Debbie says dooyoo always told us that it could not be moved if the category it was going to already ahd stuff in it. | |
