| Is it because PayPal sucks? I'm not a big fan of PayPal. I have an account only because it's practically impossible to buy something on eBay without it these days. If Dooyoo were to offer more payment options, I'd suggest some further voucher options instead. | |

| I agree with Ciao's Favourite Member. Paypal suck big time. I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them. Sorry but if you asked me, Paypal are crooks and don't care about anyone other than themselves.
I would never accept payment via paypal from anyone EVER again.

| With respect, it seems like most of dooyoo's members are happy with the payment the way it is. The system isn't set up for non-UK users but even so, most of them seem to be pretty happy with it anyway.
If dooyoo used paypal they would have to pay for every single transaction and there'd be less money in the rewards pot for everyone.

| A bit of trivia for you. Do you know the origins of the term naff off?
I heard (probably one of those late night Channel 4 progs) that the term was invented for the show Porridge where they needed to show the prisoners swearing at each other but couldn't use any real swear words because it was a family show. So they invented naff ........ not knowing the word was already in use in the gay community to describe straight people (i.e. not available for f***ing).
Sorry about that - totally off topic.

Dear God, why do you tell me these things, Steph who lives in Kentucky? While we don't enforce the rule very harshly, you'll note in dooyoo policies that it states that you have to reside in the UK in some form or another. We're super-flexible on the issue (the internet is nothing if not global) but really. We're a UK company (well, we're a Germany company and I work for the UK division, but you know what I mean) so there's really not many reasons to worry about converting your pounds to dollars. The real answer why we don't use paypal is that we feel there's no reason to involve a third party in the voucher system. The fact that we can even offer vouchers is thanks to an agreement we've made with the Amazon people. Heck, a lot of our rules about vouchers (like their expiration dates) are directly from the Amazon folks. Involving another company that has nothing to do with getting vouchers from Amazon just doesn't make a lot of sense. ...Unless you're suggesting that we just pay you the money and not give it to you in vouchers. Which is a whole other issue and not what dooyoo is all about these days. -jared

| You know, if you look far back enough in dooyoo's long history (2002, I think), you'll see where we, instead of just giving miles to the monthly winners, we actually bought them beer. Maybe you guys are shooting too low. : P -jared | |

(who also uses this space to remind folks that technically dooyoo asks that all its users be 18 years of age. You know, it's in our policies. As such, it's alright for me to be joking about booze.)

But if they had paypal, I could change the pounds over to dollars I know of a review site with an Italian sounding name who don't pay at all unless you have a UK bank account to transfer the money into. No voucher option there. They have writers from all over the world who do it for fun and not the money knowing they will never be able to cash out. At least with dooyoo you can use the amazon UK vouchers worldwide, even if you have to pay higher shipping and possiby customs duty. I'm very happy with the way dooyoo make payments, depending on how much I write I can order all my amazon stuff free for the year.

LOL, no. They weren't green shooters either, but I do think I turned a shade of green after downing them...

I think it just tells you you've got messages to encourage you to sign in. Half the time you haven't.

| With some of the latest reviews regarding how to rate reviews, it appears that there are still members who aren't aware of the 'nominate fro a crown' button'. People have been asking for a higher rating than VU, which shows that they haven't been aware of an not using that button. I wondered perhaps whether something could be done about this? I myself are aware of it as are many other members, but there does seem to be confusion between some how they rate above VU. Lisa x | |
