Clearly, as a mod, I strongly object to the above post, and the postee has been reprimanded in the strictest possible terms.

(Still ok for dinner?)

getting back to the original line of this thread, I take it that the reasons given above by <edit> and <edit> are the reasons why my <edit> thread that related to my <edit> review is no longer on view. Is it Ok to talk about the weather or is that advertising for the Met office?

OK.

I have been away for a week (damn busy!) but here is my take on the situation.

Steerpyke, no matter your intentions for the thread, I'm afraid I saw it as naming. It was easy to find out who it was and that is the pivotal bit of the post.

Not whether they were wring, not whether you were right, not any other bit of the post. That is what breaks the naming and shaming rules as it points to another member who perhaps does not have the right to reply. Even if they did on the site, its not the purpose of this site to discuss exact details of a dissagreement in rating.

I have no idea whether or not anyone posted their concerns about the thread before posting on the thread itself, however that would be the preferred situation in my book.

So, if anyone has an issue with a thread or post, please let us know so it can be delt with.

Thats fair enough, best not to discuss the fact that the people here write reviews at all then really and then no one can get into trouble. I guess I should have read the rules, its just that with a name like Review Writers Forum I'd wrongly assumed that it was a place where you could discuss the ins and outs of writing reviews and the views and opinions held by those who do so. Still theres always the stimulating word games!

Aw come on. You can word things in a way that do not point to any reviews such as asking members how you would deal with writing a review on something as contraversial as the Bible for instance, and you may well have gained some other viewpoints.
