| I have seen in the last week Exceptional ratings given on reviews which pass as H at best. Has anyone else seen this trend on ciao ? | |

| that has reared its ugly head again. I think there is a lot of the old duplicate account stuff going on. I commented on a writer today who had written a brief and barely SH piece and had recieved one VH from another new writer. The odd thing was both accounts had opened the same day and both had the same series of numbers (birthday) after their name. No imagination this new breed of criminal masterminds. | |

| Oh really, I'm surprised they can even work out how to make multiple accounts! | |

| I commented on an H at best one that had been given an exceptional by an "established" member. | |

you're right maybe I'm paying them too high a compliment by assuming they could have worked that one out...

| I have rated many average 'H' pieces E, but likewise 'VH' pieces 'NH', mainly in the cafe, this (previous comments) contradicts what many people say about rating as you think and not what everyone else does, be it low or high, previous comments here haven't said it, but maybe hinted at that contradiction. | |

| If ratings fall within the guidelines given by Ciao as a site, then there is no problem with your rating being higher or lower than anyone elses. Ratings are a personal thing to each user. | |

I fail to see how a review with average H ratings can be rated E by anyone without some kind of hidden agenda.

| I'm sure in particular with new members, that they do it in the hope that you'll reciprocate the rating. Lisa x | |

| I have seen a lot of new members doing this but this may be because they don't know what a review should contain to get the VH or E rating.
I have not see estabilished members doing this but again it someone's opinion and these can vary from member to member.

| Here's one for you, leaving a comment listing things that a reviewer has left out, but then rating it highly. I then think that perhaps the reviewer has added this in, and the rater has gone back and acknowledged it. However when I look back at the review, all of those things have still be left out, and yet it's got a high rating. Lisa x | |

| Member choice and not really a sin as such, because each member sees within a review what they see, and what others see is different. | |

| yeh I thought that too when I read it again. Okay, the usefulness to one member will be different than it is to another member. Is that any clearer, or is my head too fuzzy to be here today ? LOL | |

| Much better, lol. Yeah, personal opinion is the biggest factor when writing reviews - if you honestly don't think it's useful then you'll rate is at such. Other people might think differently and rate it accordingly though... | |

| Yes, but if someone has left a comment saying that they thought you left out rather a lot of relevant info, then why rate it VU? Lisa x | |

| Yes, after all a VU rating means that it contains all relevant info to you clearly. I've seen a few established members rate like this. I personally would rate down, mention what I thought was left out, and then re-rate if it was added. Lisa x | |

| I do however appreciate that we all have our own ways of rating, but when a reviewer has clearly left out quite a bit of relevant info, and that has been acknowledged, then I don't see how it can be rated highly. Lisa x | |
