| Been enjoying Isaac Asimov's Foundation series lately - just finished the fifth of the seven books he managed to write before he died. He's a very clever, thought-provoking author and I would recommend these science-fiction books to those who haven't yet sampled his works. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has read/owned any of the Galactic Empire books? He wrote them around the same time as the early Foundation books though for some reason seem rather more rare - £20-80 on amazon.co.uk. Does anyone know where (or if) I can find Pebble In The Sky or The Currents Of Space at a slightly more respectable price? | |

| Have you tried Ebay ? Most books are cheaper on Amazon, but I have found when looking for specialised books that sometimes they appear cheaper on ebay from people that are unaware of their potential value, and just see it as a book they want to get rid of. | |

| Thanks for that - you're absolutely spot on. Pebble In The Sky seems to vary from 99p to £250 lol. Will have to snap up a bargain as there don't seem to be too many copies around, at least not for under a quid hehe. Perhaps they haven't been in print for a long time? | |

| Hurrah - got 'Pebble In The Sky' and 'The Stars Like Dust' for less than fiver combined! The pages are extremely brown but what the heck - I think the books are about forty years old, and at least they're in one piece! (at the moment) | |

| Just a little aside on Mr Asimov.Mr Asimiov and myself go way back. I once wrote a rather long essay for high school on the "I Robot" collection of short stories. This was the only sci-fi novel that was "allowed". This was a bit of a shame because at the time I hated the book. A collection of short stories WAY ahead of their time. Anyway I did what my English teacher suggested and Slagged the book to hell and back. She was delighted, I was delighted, I submitted it to the Exam board, Asimov died the day after!!!!!! I had just slagged of a world famous author AND HE HAD JUST DIED!!! Anyway I got an A+ for the paper and can only assume that the examiner reading it had a sense of humour and Irony. | |
