| Since the re-deign of the site, it is noticeable how many people read reviews but do not rate them. Why would anyone do that ? Sure you get your 3p but shouldn't we rate what we read ? | |

| Generally I rate everything I read, occasionaly I may tackle a long review in two sittings so it may look like I don't rate but I always come back and finish. The only time I don't rate is if i come across an extremely long review which has bored me senseless in the first few paragraphs and I decide to leave it as without finishing it I don't feel I should rate. | |

It is strange, innit? I can only assume that some folks open up reviews and then decide they really don't wanna read 'em after all.

| I always rate what I read. I guess there are times that I open a review and think this is really boring so leave it. Then I wouldn't rate as I hadn't finished. | |

| LOL. If its that boring then it is probably of no use to the consumer either. | |

| Sometimes I open a review and think 'this isn't something I know anything about so I'm not entitled to rate it' - e.g. I open a computer game review thinking it's a film and don't bother to finish reading.
Very occasionally I open and think 'oh boy I just don't like this but I'm not ready to have a fight about it'. My grandma taught me that sometimes if you can't say something nice it's better to say nothing at all - that's how I sometimes feel about rating.
If in all honesty I think something's poor but I don't want to be the only one to rate it down - or I don't have time for the petty revenge that might follow - I'll happily let them have their 3 p and I'll go for an easy life.
Cowards way out? Maybe. But it's my choice and I don't think it does anyone any harm.
From the above thread, can I deduce that it's now possible to see WHO has read but not rated on any particular review? Sorry if that's a daft Q -just got back after 2 weeks holiday and still can't find my way round noodooyoo.

| Yeah you can see who reads but doesn't rate now. It is not always intentional either. As one person said today, your connection may be cut off and you can access the review later if you want to from reviews I read area on your page. One flaw in your argument though is that there is nothing wrong with rating down, and being nice about it. | |

| I absolutely agree there's nothing wrong - at least let's say 'in a logical and sensible world there would be nothing wrong'.
But sometimes in the world of sensitive egos and people not reading things in the tone they've been written........ well it's really easy to piss people off without intending to (when I intend to be nasty, they won't mistake my intent but you can mean something in a nice, helpful, constructive way and just come over all sanctimonious to the person who's been commented on).
Yes I know I'm weak - I hold my hand up to that - but I try to pick my fights more carefully these days.
