| Well, that's a wholly useless statement unless you're parepared to tell us what it is you're doing to achieve such figures. | |

| I am not sure what it is apart from bulk. Wrote a lot of Helium associated articles and I think they get an awful lot of reads, and are certainly earning. Also, timely pieces catch good reads like now for Easter. Books certainly do well as do films and I have many in both those categories, and have had emails from people about them. | |

| I;m not so sure about film being a good category. The majority of mine are film reviews, of movies that are in the cinema right now or have been recently, and I'm still on 69cents lol | |

| Bulk?
How many reviews have you posted? Do you advertise? How many new topics do you post articles to? How many are Helium originals? How long have you been a member?
You've also been lucky enough for some reason to have three articles on the front page.
In four weeks of membership, eleven articles, no advertising, three originals and two suggested topics, I have the grand total of 69c.

| Yes, but on Helium it works like that. You can write when you like and as much as you like. No limitations, no one calling you a churner, no gripes about people turning out bulk, in fact they encourage it. | |

| It wasn't an accusation.
I know that Helium encourages people to post articles and it's fairly easy to do so unless you're suggesting a new topic. I still have serious concerns about naming conventions that is stopping me from suggesting further categories which no dount will get buried in the great Ciao erm... Helium black hole.
However, Helium also tries to encourage people to rate (hahahahahahahahahahaha) and a lot of members certainly expect you to do your bit in rating, though there is come confusion as to what is an acceptahble level of rating.

| It's not for me..I have realised after reading today's thread posts!
I have only posted three articles..on about 5 cents or so.
but I do not have time to post 120 articles a month for $1.50 a day. (even my already written reviews in six years only comes to about 260, and I could write off at least the first 100 of them as not things I would cross post, due to outdatedness etc..) And I don't have 120 new thoughts a month..!
I am totally bored of the inflexibility in what I can rate...if I read one more "top ten places to visit in Europe" I will scream.

| I'm in kinda the same boat, Helen. I could still post - there's enough there on the site that I could write about... stuff that would be new, but I do have quite a few concerns. Irrespective of the earning potential, I'm still confused about what it is that Helium wants to be. My impression is that it seems to be a knowledgebase for everything (even their tagline suggests that), but allows reviews and creative writing? It seems to value the quality of writing waaaay above actual content (and is very forward about pushing that) and is not actually too concerned about the articles (I can't believe some of the stuff they pay for) or about getting the posted stuff rated or about offering easy access to the articlesa themselves with a shocking navigation system. Additionally, small changes to the site and forum that could/should be implemented within 48 hours at most takes far too long to sort out. The Helium forum is almost as bad as Ciao. | |

| I could I am sure, find a topic a day and write five lines about it. ( I manage it onhere after all!!)
I think I can see what they want to be...some kind of knowledge library, knowledge management being the new big thing...I just dont know if this site can achieve this, given certain knowledge based sites have an obvious advantage.. It's too big and too general a scope to be of any use in its current format (especially if half the members are just cross posting that what already exists on the tinterweb!)
I also find that some of the categories are questionable...it is "think of a category and be no 1 in it.." it is unyieldy.
If I have time for a third site it would be Trivago for me (granted that is a more natural choice given the hotel/travel side is my expertise).
Apart from adding my fourpence to debate stuff, I don't know I can add anything new and different and would rather write for dooyoo, where I know what is expected, (and fares well in general consumer searches).

| Sixteen articles and $0.80 but flying up rapidly now. At least $0.20 a day. It's nice that you can take a break and still see the amount climbing. And this is without generating member reads myself. Not enough to retire on but I can see that it's minimum work for nice results. | |

| Some articles have yet to earn, others are on 17 Cents. It don't mind really because I know that they'll just accumulate gradually and I don't have to do too much else except some rating each time I post.
I am finding that my new articles (the ones I've suggested) are appearing within 24 hours and are starting to earn within a day too. Seems like easy money to me.

| Yes, my sherry glass most certainly is half full!
Of course Helium has a wealth of faults (I am still furious that my well researched piece on Swiss chard is languishing at number four when it should at least be number two - one of the other articles is about microwaves for God's sake) but for the work I have so far put in I think I can't complain.
I just went up anothe two cents in the last hour .....roll on Helsinki!

| When I come across your swiss chard i'll certainly rate it appropriately - for Helskini's sake as too much rolling will surely cause it some distress.
I am very surprised my side dishes article is not doing as well lol but perhaps folks aren't impressed by Chorizo or Leek bake. Sigh. Ah well. Suppose will have to go back into the kitchen and experiment a-gain. C'mon earnings! Perse needs a new jumper and pair of shoes!

I am leaving work in five minutes or so and am heading off to buy some chorizo in fact - paella on the menu tonight!
