| I could give it the benefit of the doubt for that one, I'm not sure they would have been able to spot that!
Diamonds should be scrapped.

| "You have to go back to June 2006 since a book review (Rachel got one for her of A Child Called 'It') or May 2006 since film review got a diamond."
"I think so, also only one music review has made it since then as well. That makes me sad."
well as about 90% of my reviews fall into those three categories, no wonder I have never had a diamond. Then again being a bit crap at this might also have something to do with it. (just saving Jani the effort of chipping in with the inevitable sarcasm)

| Me sarcastic? No, me happy after listening to Morricone's The Good, the Bad and the Ugly! But the Diamond is a bit of a waste as in most cases they are awarded like the Oscars: The more undeserving, the better its chances. They don't really bother me as I don't se myself writing on Ciao in the foreseeable future to actually miss one, even if I received some benefit from getting one. And yeah, Santalil's Babel score SUCKS! Mark my words, I think it will win an Oscar! | |

Think I better read that review and SH it, as there has to be something seriously wrong with it.

| Do you know the last time I won a Diamond?? June 2006 which is frankly shocking amongst several reviews which have won things elsewhere online! | |

| It's not really though, is it?
Do you really think that you've written one of the ten best reviews on Ciao in a month out of the many that are posted (why did 6000 pop into my head?)
We all think our reviews are good and a lot of the time, I do think mine are better than the ones that get diamonds, but there are plenty out there as good as, if not better, than mine. And that's just based on where my own criteria for a good review match Ciao's own review writing guidelines.

| I've written an indignant email to them point out how the reviews they give diamonds to do not follow Ciao's own guidelines for writing.
Next up: why I still haven't gotten my profile picture back or any kind of reply from Ciao.

| maybe you should post one with you wearing a tea-cosy pulled down over your face, see what they say. They could hardly say you looked like a terrorist, which I assume is the reason they have an objection. (I suppose you could be a member of the radical wing of the Boston Tea Party) | |

| They've yet to tell me, though the T word is probably the best bet.
However, a precedent has been set: the last person to call me a terrorist because I wear a 'clava and am Irish had their comments removed for racism/bigotry. Hmmm...

| But as you obviously know, I'm not calling you a terrorist, I'm questioning the reasoning for their disapproval. I think most people have come to the conclusion that the combination of balaclava and your nationality has made someone have a knee jerk reaction about implications and image. They surely are the one with the problem, not the ones here openly talking about it. And I bet they read the Daily Mail. Considering that the picture has been on the site for years I fail to see why its suddenly an issue unless someone just wants to make it one.
Can I also add, I have long hair and a copy of the New Testament, that dosnt make me Jesus. I'm just making it worse for myself aren't I?

| Oh, I wasn't having a go at you, SP. I was thinking out loud.
If Ciao removed someone's comments for putting Irish plus 'clava together and getting Terrorist on the grounds they were racist/bigotted, how can they use that same excuse to remove the picture? I'm taking this to the top (which obviously doesn't mean Ciao Australia).
A now ex-Ciao member, a very dear friend of mine, once threatened to knit me a nice, colourful 'clava and cover it with sequins and stuff so I could have a new Ciao profile pic. She never finished it, though.

| You should get someone to write a review on the virtues of wearing a 'clava. (I think I know the perfect person for it too!) | |

| Now if you were carrying a sawn off shot-gun and wearing a balaclava they might have a case but you are right, which is the bigot in the debate?
How about a pair of tights on your head? Or a condom? still anonymous and enigmatic, maybe not so dignified.
