| "Just because someone out nutritional info or didn't include the price does not make the review bad, the review surely should be rated on personal info and exactly how good the product is. Price and other details are just additional."
Yes but thats the whole idea! I rate because the review doesn't meet my personal criteria. I am a consumer. If the review doesn't tell me the nutrional content and that's what I want to know, then YES I will rate the review low, regardless of whether the rest of the opinion is fantastic and the product good.
As a consumer if it doesn't tell me what I (In CAPITALS) want to know, then I will rate low. I'm not a sheep on ciao here to rate everyone's review VH just because its the nice thing to do!

| Actually I meant to put 'does includes nutritional info', not out nutritional info, as some feel this is unnecessary and rate down for including it. So my point was that just because there is more info than you require it doesn't make it a bad review.
I understand it has to meet the requirements YOU (In capitals!) want to know, but giving added extras is not always a bad point.

| But I agree we are not sheep, and should rate as we see fit.
But lately there has been alot of people who have started rating reviews as SH or similar for pathetic excuses. One person was doing it, and others thought hey that looks good, and so more followed. That to me is like being a sheep!

| I've never rated like a sheep and never will do.
If people have included additional information - thats fine, as long as they don't overload the true opinion in the review.
Many uses long list of nutrional information (or alternatives), barely make an opinion, then receive E's or SH (depending on the sheep)....there the ones who we should be rating down, not becuase they've included it, but because that's all they included

| I think the point here is that if the extra info that is not needed by a reader/rater makes the review longwinded and hard to follow, then it shoulda/coulda/woulda be rated down.
I know I (it should be capitals anyway!) have rated down reviews that DID in fact tell me what I wanted to know, but I didn't rate it higher as I had to sift through the supifulous (sp?) info to get to what I wanted.

_________________ I read one the other day that took the author ages to type. It was very long and I had to read it twice to believe that amidst those words was no personal opinion at all and what that spells to me is misunderstanding the concept of review sites and not realising how important THEIR view of a product is as opposed to describing what it is.

| we have gone from abuse to ratign reviews in one small step which to me, shows what people are more concerned about.
I don't know, but reading between the lines I get the feeling that people think abuse is a rate they do not like.
Again this is only MY (in capitals because I liked that bit) view.

| I honestly believe that abuse is not in ratings at all really. Copying and multiple accounts are the biggest problem on a site like ciao and as long as these are dealt with swiftly, the other things are pretty insignificant. | |

| Abuse is a number of things, but mis using the rating system, such as not rating correctly, would be some form of abuse. But as we all have different opinions, what is and isn't rating correctly would be a personal thing.
I would rate down a review that had no personal info or just lots of lists but one that just added oh by the way it was £?? price from ***, to me is not worth rating down.

Define 'not rating correctly'. There is no correct way to vote. People vote according to how useful they believe the review is - the idea of a vote that differs from the norm as being 'uncorrect' is a bit strange, and it's certainly not abuse. It's like people believe that a low rating is a personal attack, and interpret it as if it's intended to be an insult (rather than there was just probably someone out there who thought your review was a bit c**p.)

| I agree. (shock, horror.) If someone rates you whatever, it is not abuse even if they say NH because I just don't like you. It is stupid rating and should just be ignored. Rating is an ego thing and when people can ignore a rate they will feel so much better about writing the way they want rather than conforming to a "group" philospohy which seems to manifest amongst review site groupies. Write for a NU/NH and anything else is a bonus. | |

| Ciao have their own list of what they consider as abuse and rely on you its members to report any behaviour which is against their terms and conditions so just take your pick from the list and do it. I personally wouldn't report off topic reviews or multiple submissions as the members often just need a bit of help or advice.
• Reporting abuse
- Copying internal sources - Copying external sources - Multiple submissions - Unlawful content - Nonsense reviews - Off-topic reviews - Vindictive ratings - Clicking cartels - Multiple accounts - Abusive comments - Abusive guestbook entries - Other misconduct

| Thanks Fi, it's a hefty list. The problem seems to be time and time again how people interpret that list. It's a little vague in places isn't it. | |

| Well if something that is happening on the site is really bothering a member and they personally consider it a form of abuse even if others disagree then they should bring it to the attention of the ciao team. The reason being they will hopefully look into the situation and take action and assure the person reporting that it is not a form of abuse if need be. I keep getting an e-mail advising me to use the abuse forms on the ciao site otherwise action cannot be taken????? I was using the bloody abuse forms and the reply had the German site address on it. Anyone else had this problem or is that off topic | |

The way it always worked for me in the past is that you report on the form, get the email saying to report on the form and if you consider it serious enough to report again, by answering the email, they reply. Could be ciao's way of getting members to cool down before reporting I guess.
