| Okay, call me an old spoilsport, but how is it we were all ticked off for innocently and inadvertantly advertising member reads in our 'About Me's' last year when we suggested that "Go see my Mum Blah Blah, she's great" and yet, today, I got an email from Ciao (subject Ciao Voices) and in it were 2 links to reviews from two Ciao members. So, up their reads go, presumably, if only for the "What's this?" factor. Yeh, I know I'd have been absolutely delighted if one of my reviews had been chosen, but it wasn't so may be that's why I'm a little bit put out that for some unknown reason Ciao picked at 'random' two reviews for, potentially, thousands of others to read and rate!!! Did the writers win a competition or something? Am I a meanie, an old cumudgeon? Yep!!! | |

| I am trying to see your point but am failing miserabley.
Are you anoyed that you can not put links to other peoples reviews in your about me or that Ciao can pick two reviews which they feel are worth reading?
just seems like two different things to me.

| Sorry, my husband was trying to get at the blasted computer as I was trying to make sure my post read properly before I sent it - obviously I failed miserably, or probably because Angus is such a miserable old so-and-so he refuses to see the point. My point was *speaks slowly* I just wonder why Ciao thinks it's okay to include links to two reviews with the result being that these reviews will potentially get hundreds more reads (and even more dosh). I would, of course, have thought it a marvellous idea had one of mine be chosen - I don't dispute that, and am quick to mention it before anyone starts accusing me of sour grapes. Yep, its true! The point was, Angus sweetie, we all got slapped round the chops last year for mentioning other members in our 'About Me's' because Ciao said that this could be construed as abuse because our mentioning other reviewers names in our About Me's might earn them more reads (which of course was a load of B******s - who could be bothered to go back to the members page and search out Aunty Edna? Again, ba humbug and I'm bored with this subject already. | |

| Miserable old me eh. :p
I guess Ciao can do what they want really and stopping people posting things in their about me's was a bit off although some people took the piss and it was used like a points gaining thing rather than a genuine reason you know?
I still don't really get your point though and I think you are right about it being a bit humbuggy, although in a pissed off way rather than "me, me, me" type way, so its okay to let off steam.
What we tend to forget/ignore/accept is that Ciao are the warlords of their own battlefield and can change the rules whenever they feel and often do.
To call Ciao hypocrites and staying on the site is like calling Blair a liar and voting Labour in the next general ellection.

| Of course, the only reason you're not allowed to 'advertise' in your About Me is that someone petty-minded complained to Ciao about it.
Or am I mistaken? |
