| That was one of the reasons that I said to Sam that two alternatives would be better. I have my mother in law coming around the easter period but could change things around, although I agree those with kids may find it difficult. I have asked Sam to post here so we can sort out everything. | |

| K's right. Travel costs and availability will increase and decrease respectively. The same applies to hotel prices. | |

Yes I know it's a multi-cultural society but I think it's still likely to have an impact on transport prices and hotel availability for anyone travelling any distance.
I think you'll restrict the attendees who have kids or like to visit relatives (not me in either case). The Ciao London meet was badly effected by being on the hallowween weekend at the end of half term - that stopped lots of parents attending. Thats okay and I quite undertsnad but if we can all bear in mind that we all have commitments and that picking a date as well as a venue is going to be difficult, now if the problem is Easter Saturday then let's change it. I'm up for changing the date etc even if others aren't.

| Why don't you suggest two alternatives and let those vote who want to join the meet? Hint of the day: This forum has a "poll" feature! ;-) | |

| How about May 6 (the sunday before may day bank holiday) or May 26/27 (last weekend in may before bank holiday again)
I am only think about bank holiday weekends so that if there is anyone travelling a great distance, they can make arrangements to stop over somewhere without having to dash back home quickly for work etc...

| First weekend of May would be fine with me, I'd prefer saturday though for the meet (May 5th).
Shall we create a poll? It's easier than looking through a list of dates in a thread....

We could always vote on whether a poll is a good idea.

We could always vote on whether a poll is a good idea. Shouldn't we have a referendum first - and do some focus groups? Maybe send out some surveys - really long ones that tell you that you don't meet their target demographic after you've been filling them in for 45 mins?

| put me down for any of those dates. Maybe you should add "any of the above" to the poll for people that really dont have a problem with any of them. | |

| I agree with the earlier posts...getting the best hotel rates that weekend can be much tougher than "normal" weekends (unless the meeting owner wants to get negotiating now (..not a good thing with meets either..due to high drop out rates..!!)
However I doubt I can make it in the period of dates being considered anyway.so won't vote!!

| Sorry to put a damper on things again but I think those three dates are all the saturdays of bank holiday weekends so the two May dates are possibly even worse than the easter saturday.
May bank holidays are 7th and 28th.
