| Recently I have read Cell by Stephen King, which was alright, Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz, which was good, a couple of Anne McCaffrey Dragons of Pern books, the Dark Materials trilogy, which was great, and the Sabriel trilogy by Garth Nix which was also great. | |

| I've been reading Middlemarch for the past 5 months or so and have only reached the midway point. I have now decided to do something I've never done before and leave the book to rest while I take on the new Harry Potter. I just can't seem to stand another 400 pages of Eliot's prose without some relieve along the way. | |

| I've finished the fifth Song Of Ice & Fire Book by George R.R. Martin and have to agree with dididave - the quality of the characters and the world he has created is marvellous, but now the long wait for the next one must begin.
Also read the fifth 'Foundation' story by the genius that is/was Isaac Asimov - Foundation And Earth, so just two more from that series to read now. Phew!

| Everyone should read "I am Legend" by Richard Matheson. It's apocolyptic vampire horror with moral value and some wicked twists. | |

Sounds like a biography of a Ciao Gold dot!

It is good. A movie was made of it (though I haven't seen it) but it's called something else...which also eludes me at the moment...

| Have just read 'The Innocent' by Harlan Coben, which I found very gripping and thoroughly enjoyed the twists in it. Having said that, it does remind of Agatha Christies books, in the fact that there are far too many characters and at times you forget who's who. Lisa x | |

| The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by STephen King. Short, gripping and very much like a childhood grimm brothers fairytale gone wrong. Think "Field Of Dreams" crossed with "Little Red Riding Hood" and "The Entity". | |

| Yellow pages, erm, Thompson directory, oh and that one with all the postcodes in it. Started reading the dictionary but some smart arse ruined the ending for me. | |

| Just reading "The Court of the Red Tsar" about Stalin. It's a bit heavy but fascinating if you want to get inside of the head of a monster.
I've always preferred The Thomson directory to the Yellow Pages.

| I'm currently reading a book By Tami Hoag entitled Guilty as sin. It's basically about a boy who was abducted but returned and won't talk about what happened. Another boy has since been abducted, and the police have someone in custody but believe he has an accomplice. Lisa x | |

A fine book, possibly King's last decent one in my view!

| I have recently finished" She's come undone" by Wally Lamb. He subsequently wrote"I Know this much is True. I read it first and it was so good I had to get the other book. It's about a young girls journey through life. She encounters abuse and indifference and compensates by overeating. The fact she is fat means she is bullied mentally at school. She tells her troubles to the lady tattoooist who works opposite her house (who is a wonderful character) and her rather sad but wise teacher. She falls in love etc, but I have to stop there or I will spoil it for you if you read it. This is a wonderful and absorbing book you will not want to put down. | |

| I've recently read "Football Factory" and "Headhunters" both by John King, really amazing books, a bit chaotic at times and not for the faint hearted but their definitely great books about football and the general culture around it. | |

| Just finished "In Your Dreams" by Tom Holt (sequel to "The Portable Door"). Absolutely superb. "The Office" style cringe making comedy with fantasy elements and a great anti-hero. Kind of like a cross between Pratchett and Adams. | |

| Finished that one and have since read The Rats by James Herbert as well.
I was after a lighter read so have plumped for Can You Keep A Secret by Sophie Kinsella this time. Easy going stuff after rats and serial killers!

| Behind Closed Doors was very good. I finished that a little while ago. Flowers in the Attic I haven't read for years.
I read loads of Virginia Andrews books and a lot of the New Virginia Andrews after she died but they were not as good and I stopped reading.
