I've found the best way to get crowns is to actually not worry about them. Just put plenty of your personal experience into a review, and it helps if you're very enthusiastic about the subject. My best reviews have always been the ones that I've enjoyed writing and known loads about, and these seem to be the ones that get crowned most often.

- I have a few crowns not as many as others though and like 'Sandemp' has said I feel that some of my better reviews haven't been rewarded in the same way as some of the lesser ones.
I think its all bout presentation and LOTS of your own opinion, it needs to be worded easily for the reader. I must admit that I have felt a bit let down recently in regards to crowns but I still love writing and reading on dooyoo so will stick with it.

- Here is a question I have about crowns, maybe someone can clear this up.... are you only eligble for crowns in the week of you posting the review.
I have had several reviews be nominated lots of times after the first week of it being on the site and have not recieved crowns for any of them.... seems to be a bit odd to me. Sandemp's reply: - Quote :
- A review can be nominated anytime, even years after it was written. The fact that members may have said they've nominated a review. doesn't neccessarily mean that they have (and then there are the members that seem to nominate every other review). Also you don't automatically get a crown just because a review's been nominated, what the nomination does is flag the review for the staff's attention. And ultimately it's their decision whether the review gets crowned or not.

- Crowns are awarded weekly - usually on a Monday (though sometimes, if they're away or busy, later in the week.)

The best way to get a crown is to be a guide dude. The 22 members of 35,456 that are guides get around 20% of the weekly crown awards. They give thier services and in return they get crowns in many cases. You can also write on the rival opinionators 'clubby' site where they hang-out(members only)and join the love in. All I can say is that the most nominated reviews rarely crown. Its up to the guides and a tombola in the dooyoo office.Ive seena review get crowned within 7 minutes of it being posted up,clealry not enough time to accrued more than a couple of reads.
If we could name names here I could give you most of the people who will crown this week, purely by running my finger down the newest review list.Seb is a busy man and I suspect he crowns trusted reviewers over the best opinions.

Réponse : Only the dooyoo team can award crowns and they are chosen in the following way:
dooyoo check all the nominations dooyoo check all the suggested reviews that are emailed to us from guides dooyoo read reviews ourselves dooyoo then decide which reviews should be crowned. This is the only we can be sure the crowns are awarded objectively.
Premiere reviews are not awarded according to rating according to the user by guides, but by the dooyoo team according soley to the amount of nominations they receive

| Er, how to get a crown. Best way is to write in a variety of categories to a high standard I would think. If you write in the same category constantly people will become bored of your writing style and I would think your crown nominations will go down. Variety is the spice of life and I think it keeps your writing fresh (I know it does mine). My recent crowns have been outside my safety zone of books. | |

Yep that's exactly how it works, out of my last five crowns, 2 have been in shopping, one in telecommunications, one in DVD and one in pets. I have different styles for each category, but one thing they all have in common is tonnes of personal experience. I never list features, but instead I talk about how they affected the product. That's what I look for on both sites, opinion, opinion and yet more opinion...

Is there a set number of crowns that can be given in the category and any restriction on how many crowns one person can get.... I'm sure I've had 3 in a week in 1 category.

| For a start we only nominate for crowns we do not award. Dooyoo decide how many crowns for each cat and I have no idea how many that is. As a Guide I will nominate any review that I feel is crownworthy no matter who by and how many reviews they have written, if they write five in a day that are crownworthy I will nominate them the same as any other member should.
I would not nominate an SU review for a crown regardless and there are weeks in my categories when I have nominated no reviews because the standard is not high enough.

| No, definitely not. A guide gets a crown if members nominate them. Also, a guide needs the nomination of members rather than other guides before they are considered whereas members can be considered via nomination from guides and/or members. | |

| I think Sandemp gave the best bit of advice:- "I've found the best way to get crowns is to actually not worry about them."
Dave - with regard to your last post , I always assumed that you automatically got a crown if you received a certain number of nominations (say, i don't know, for example 20 nominations).
However, you said "members can be considered via nomination from guides and/or members" . Does this mean that a review can receive just one nomination and still receive a crown, and vice versa.. .a review could receive 50 nominations and not get a crown?

| No it is not necessarily linked to number of nominations although obviously you would hope a review with most nominations would get crowned. I am not privy to how many crowns are available per week per category but there is only a certain amount to go round so it is possible that a review in one category may receive a crown with less nominations than one in another. For example, there might be ten great book reviews per week in a popular category like books but if they awarded 10 crowns in this category there would be nothing left for other categories.
It is possible although highly unlikely for a review with one nomination to get a crown and also possible for a review with fifty nominations not to get one (say if there are four other nominated reviews). Remember ultimately it is dooyoo that decide who does and does not get crowned so they may decide one review suits their objectives more than another regardless of weight of nomination (although that is purely speculation on my part).
The system does have a strange sort of sense as someone with a low readership (say a new member) is in essence as likely to be crowned as someone with a readership of 50.

Pah! That's easy. The PF is calculated using the Piñatas game. Ciao employees smack a papier-mache effigy of a Ciaoer until a few names (written on scraps of paper) fall out of it. That lot get £2.50. The process is repeated and that lot get £1.50. Process is repeated over and over until papier mache effigy is lying in shreds on the floor and any names left get nada.

| Back on topic though - i think to get a crown a review must be primarily about personal experience, comparisons, benefits, disadvantages etc and not - "the product contains...", "the packaging looks like..." etc etc.
There are many reviews that get rated VU and U on DooYoo which could easily have been written without the reviewer ever having come into contact with the product / service / subject. These critters are not worthy and thankfully I've never seen one crowned yet.
